The 2009 Yamaha Raptor 250 is both the lightest production sport ATV ever and the only ATV in its class to offer a 5-speed manual transmission, it’s an agile off-road machine. The Yamaha Raptor 250 engine for 2009 is a 249cc single overhead cam four stroke with air cooling, perfect for maximizing horsepower on such an agile frame. Other neat features include an electric start that works in any gear and no tools required air box access.

A major contributor of the 2009 Raptor 250’s low weight rating is due to the combination use of Aluminum ATV wheels and Dunlop ATV tires which greatly reduces unsprung wieght and allows the suspension to work more freely. Being light doesn’t mean sacrificing safety however and you will still find steel grab bars front and rear and a full ATV skidplate protecting the bottom of this fun machine. As with most Yamaha’s ATV maintenance is a breeze with easy access grease fittings, chain adjustment and air box access.

I have a raptor 700r and a 250. I ride my 250 more then my 700.
