Motorcycle Body Armor
by Nick Harris on Jun 19In general motorcycles reach faster speeds during regular use than ATVs do, not counting the speed demons down the street who never ride without the throttle pinned, so it makes sense that a piece of safety equipment gets developed solely for motorcycles, occasionally, sometimes, maybe. I don’t know about you but when I go to the store to pick up some new body armor, gloves, etc, I go straight for my favorite brand first. I’d like to thank a little kangaroo tag for changing that bad habit and turning me onto some sweet motorcycle body armor, prodigy gloves.
Motorcycle Body Armor – Prodigy Gloves

They are expensive, they are made of real leathers and they, well ok, they aren’t ugly. These bad boy prodigy gloves are made by velocity gear and claim to be the only gloves in North America tested against EN13594:2002 specifications. They come with a lifetime manufacturing warranty and lifetime half price replacement warranty, now that’s some serious standing behind your product!
But what about that little kangaroo tag, the one that made me take a closer look at these in the first place, does it mean I can expect a hopping good time? No, actually it signifies that this body armor was made using REAL kangaroo hide (mixed with cowhide) and that’s a good thing. Don’t call PETA on me for saying that either, in some parts of Australia Kangaroo’s are a nuisance (unlike cows that we just like to eat) and this is an excellent use of of their hide that would otherwise go to waste. Less waste, more protection, the real deal.
The way I see it we’re only given one pair of hands per lifetime, unfortunately, and since they hit the ground first with almost every fall why not spend a little more on getting them some of the best protection available that is also eco-friendly. They work, they look cool, people rant and rave about the company so give them a jump when you need another pair.
I’ll write a full review when my pair comes to the door and I get a chance to test them out. Hmmm, since I don’t plan on crashing any time soon it might be a while. I tried a pair on, they have naturally curved fingers that fit super comfortably and didn’t feel stuffy thanks to the mesh between the fingers. Would you give these a try?
