Yamaha 660R Raptor
It wasn’t very long ago that ATVs were a mere side-effect of motorcycle manufacturing companies wanting to add to their product lineup. ATV racing before the turn of the century wasn’t nearly as popular as it has become today and the options available to ATV enthusiasts were nowhere near as plentiful. The Yamaha 660R Raptor ATV helped change all of that by offering out of the crate performance at an affordable and reasonable price.

I’m in the process of writing a full history about the Yamaha 660R Raptor and I’d like to invite you to share your opinions in the forum so that I can include owner feedback as well. Yamaha 660R Owners loved their new sport ATVs, other ATV manufacturers hated them and time will now judge the staying power of this amazing machine.
When the Yamaha 660r Raptor was released its 660cc five valve, four stroke liquid cooled motor had the most displacement available in any quad. It also featured a 3 intake / 2 exhaust valve setup, over 10 inches of ground clearance and was quite simply the fastest sport ATV available on the market. More impressively it was sold with an MSRP of $6,499.00 in the U.S. and since Yamaha offered ATV financing it became a no-brainer decision for many ATV enthusiasts. The 660R is a regular at ATV auctions too…
