Offroad adventuring and riding new trails on an ATV is a lot of fun. A GPS unit and an iphone are both items I would highly recommend you bring with you for safety when planning any ATV trip. Good news! TomTom has announced that they are launching an iphone GPS app to combine two products into one service so that you can get GPS positioning on an iphone. The expected cost of the tomtom iphone GPS application via the itunes app store is $99.00, keep an eye out for special offers of course.

TomTom also announced that the iphone GPS system will be released with an optional TomTom car kit to mount your iphone to your vehicle. It shouldn’t be very hard to adapt a standard iphone mounting kit to an ATV although you may also want iphone armor of some sort to protect it from mud and debris. The best part of the deal is that you won’t need to pay a monthly GPS fee for a unit you will no longer need, ok that might not be great news for standard GPS unit manufacturers but for everyone else, it is.
