ATV Trails Closed While Building Wind Farm
The Mountain Ridge Trails Resort Located in Reels Corner, PA, on Route 160 just South of the intersection of Route 160 and Route 30 will be closed for the remainder of 2009 due to construction of a wind farm.
From the Mountain Ridge Trails Resort Owner:
Mountain Ridge Trails Resort is sorry to inform our valued customers that we are forced to TEMPORARILY close for the 2009 season for general admission riding. We have been working with a windmill company that has been testing the wind generating capacity of “The Mountain”. The windmill company determined that the site is suitable for generating electricity via windmills and began construction of a “windmill farm” that includes a total of 36 windmills on our property and on the property adjacent to the ATV Park. This is a massive construction effort encompassing over 4,000 plus acres and involves road building, timbering, trenching, large foundation pits, large and numerous earthmoving equipment, hundreds of cement trucks, etc. on a daily basis from now until late fall 2009 when the windmills will be up and running.
Due to safety concerns, it is impossible to allow ATV and dirt bike riding on The Mountain during this construction phase.
The good news is that after the installation of the windmills, Mountain Ridge Trails Resort will emerge bigger and better in 2010 with upgraded facilities for our riders. We are still committed to our goal of becoming the best ATV Park and the primary destination for riders in the northeastern USA. We apologize for any inconvenience or change in your vacation and travel plans this closing brings to you in 2009; we thank you for your consideration and patience while we go through this temporary growing pain.
We look forward to seeing you all again in 2010.
