i was just wondering what anyone knows about putting a winch on a z400 ive looked into them but all the ones that are for a z400 have a 1500lb capacity and i just wasnt sure if it was going to be suficent cause i have got my quad in some suck mud an i was just wondering if i should go up a size an modify the mount to work with it. If anyone could help me i would greatly apreciate it

Welcome to the forums, great question too.
1500 lb winches are perfect for most sport ATVs up to 450cc's if you plan on using it only occasionally. When not used very often going with a 1500 lb winch saves some weight. It's also strong enough to pull the ATV straight up out of a hole if you need it to although mud can sometimes decide not to let go so easily. If you find yourself using it quite often or if you regularly pull a trailer with extra weight or take long trips it might be a good idea to move up to a 2500 or 3000 lb winch, otherwise the 1500 is your best bet.
